Hit me with music...

What's wrong with music y'all and why must men run (literally) screaming from it unless they are gay, a member of a childrens' choir or a closet Glee fan that sings show tunes in the shower...all of which could spell gay (not that I have a problem with gay)....but I'm speaking of straight men/guys I might consider dating....but maybe it's not the music, maybe it's me? It was time for yet another Tunesday with Bands on the Beach and I had planned to go and third-wheel it with my coupled friends. I invited a plus one on Monday and he quickly came back with a potential business meeting. I heard nothing from the culprit yesterday....no text, no email, no phone call, no facebook, no twitter and no smoke signals....nothing. I went on with life as any single girl would do, went to the concert and had a great time...as I left I was driving over the second bridge to return home and I receive this text, "U on the island". I respond "Just leaving" and follow up with a phone call....no answer. An hour later I finally get a phone call. Somehow, he could not fathom that I went....My retort was of course I went, I told him the day before. He wondered why I didn't call...but ladies and gentlemen I gave him the option, and he had no follow-through...men boys should do the work in dating (at least to start).

His excuse....well there was none....he had gone home and at 8:50pm he planned to strut his stuff and make a three mile run, running from the concert if you ask me....decidedly set on not getting a gut this summer he felt it would behoove him to pound the pavement at dark thirty. Later that evening he texted how therapeutic it was...really?? Get a therapist.

P.S. He lives at the beach which makes for even less of an excuse. The concert was in his backyard, essentially....Nah...I'm not bitter...but it makes for a good story.

Wasting away......

Free concert....Jimmy Buffett....what's not to like?!? Obviously a lot (for some). Mr. Buffett and friends are putting on a show to benefit victims of the oil spill. The majority of my friends and I thought it would be a rollicking good time...and why the heck not...it's only an hour away! I offered the invite to a guy I had a few dates with and immediately got shot down.... ...but, the kicker......I didn't get a "NO," I got a "Heck, NO!" with bullet points detailing the reasons he would not attend....it went something like this....

Yes...had two voice mails about it on Sunday morning...I was pumped until I learned:

1. It is free, so every redneck within 500 miles will be trying to get there and parking/access is going to make the hangout festival look like a day at church-
2. It is a CMT deal and is only lasting from 7 to 8:30, so there might be one or two songs from each of them and they most likely won't even have their own bands or anything-

My response, "Ok, fine...." I chuckled to myself wondering how he thought The Hangout fest was a wild raucous time? We got to front stage, heck, I wandered by myself through the crowd and managed to find a girlfriend in the sea of thousands (thank you, Blackberry Messenger). Trust me, I don't like craziness any more than the next person but you've got to live a little and this is not a crazy riot on the Capital steps....it's a concert....So what am I going to do?? Why, get online this morning and get 4 free tickets and have a heck of a good time next Thursday and blow out my flip flop......

Tripping billies.

Minds will wonder to wondrous places. So why would you care to get out of this place. You and me and all our friends, such a happy human race. Eat, drink and be merry...a few weeks ago my mind and body took a little trip over to Alys Beach for some breathtaking photos and an uncommon experience. I will no doubt be back next year and hope to make another drive over soon!

And my photos hardly do it justice.....

City on down.

Well, in the end my friend, we will all be together again,Clutching onto my hand, in a valley we'll stand, just living again. And in a while we'll smile, march on another mile. On hallowed hills, attached to the land we'll be still. No one's ever gonna say a thing. And we'll be together, together again. Taking off to the city on down.....
A city on down the coast. If there's a place that compares to Alys Beach it is Rosemary Beach. With it's quaint sidewalks and cute shops.....including this one. I fell in love with the Town Hall and this sign....gotta love a weekend get away.

B. creative.

Studio B is where it's at. I have lusted after this space on many occasion. The courtyard is quaint and perfectly manicured but the space is a studio with artwork hung throughout. It plays host to parties, art events and celebrities....yeah we're talking India Hicks, Jonathan Adler, and Emeril.... As a bonus on my trip to Alys the good studio was having an open house and my friend and I ventured inside to discover this hidden gem....check out my shots and drool away.

Wanderlust.

More shots from my journey through Alys...there were bikes galore perfect for trekking through the gorgeous towne.Windows to the world. The perfect contrast of strong metal against the white backdrop. The amphitheater was lined with palms that swayed in the breeze and their shadows danced across the curiously green grass.Character is what lies beneath the surface.Caliza Pool. Gorgeous....that's all I got.The very cute Fonville Press, cafe, coffee shop, bar.....The gulf green overlooks the beach.Outside the Fonville Press there are the tiniest details on the columns. Done and done...

I finally made it to Alys Beach, after all my blogging you would have thought I would have already gone. The angles of the building were amazing requiring little more than the snap of my lens to create the perfect shot. Here are a few...they do not do it justice. Please check out my album here. And not I did not go for the gorgeous white buildings....I went for Digital Graffiti. Stay tuned~

Take me home.....

....country 30A roads. It feels like a lifetime since I last visited these sandy shores. Granted I live at the beach {more or less{ but I adore Destin and 30A, and this weekend thanks to the suggestion of a friend and some help from my aunt and uncle for a place to stay I made the journey once again. And it felt good. I was not returning home, but it felt like a homecoming, it was a place I had gone a million times....a place I know better than my current residence. The irony of feeling at home in a place that isn't your home.....

Feed Me, Seymour....

I admit I was a little leery when a friend asked if I wanted to see Little Shop of Horrors, but after reminding myself what it was about via a few choice Youtube bits....I was convinced I had to go.I found myself humming the tune and was immediately reminded of the game my brother and I had. {Okay, he will be embarrassed if he reads this, sorry, B!!} But as a child he always liked certain things whether it be volcanoes, fish, or carnivorous plants, and for that I am thankful; I probably learned more than I cared to at the time about Pompeii and cichlids....and got to play the Feed Me! game. The Feed Me! game came out around the time of the Little Shop of Horrors remake. The game featured an "Audrey II" plant that would have its mouth open when the game was being played. There were black balls and orange balls about the size of marbles. One color was lighter and one color was heavier. When it was your turn, you'd roll the dice and whatever color popped up is what you'd have to put on Audrey II's tongue. Be careful though! As the marbles add weight onto Audrey's tongue her mouth may just clamp down on the next player to stick their hand in! We had fun just sticking our hands in and pressing down on the tongue and making it bite us.
Demented maybe, fun most definitely yes. How many kids can say they had this game.....and the irony of it all is that it was purchased because it was a venus flytrap, not because my mom remembered the movie..... I wish I could find that game!

The old waman that lived in her shoe.

I've spent $40,000 on shoes and I have no place to live? I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes! True for Carrie Bradshaw before Big...but not so true for Jane Aldridge {Sea of Shoes} and her mom {Atlantis Home}. Check out these gorgeous photos of her home. I adore the eclectic, vintage details.
