Counting down....

Really it has not been a great week, I thought I was joining the rest of the free world with my new ipod but my laptop crashed....died...caput...sayonara. I shipped it off yesterday when I finally received email confirmation I would get a pittance back from the warranty. Yesterday after living four days with no PC I bit the bullet and ordered one. I think I compared more specs than was humanly possible and ended up spending up a little under $1000--great {note the sarcasm}. No shoe shopping for me. The kicker is I have to wait and wait and wait some more.....I should receive the new computer by the close of the month. Can I really make it two and a half more weeks with no computer. It's tough! I may forget what they look like. And if you'd like to count along....1 day to Georgia, 4 days to a holiday, 14 days to computer, 17 days to a bridesmaid dress, and 40 something until I am at the Southernmost point......things will definitely be improving in about fourteen--to be precise. Wish me luck....

My motherboard, my self....

My life brings to mind the infamous episode of Sex and the City: My Motherboard, My Self. After losing my laptop and two phones already this year, I was beginning to believe my life was turning for the better. I should have pause to remind myself--not so fast, sister! Sunday afternoon I was struggling with resetting my Internet when I jiggling the mouse of my desktop in the other room and the computer yielded no response. I jiggled again, and again no response. I tried to turn the power on to the tower. No response. My child had died. I called my Mom to inform her of the grim news, but she said, M it was dead the last time I was there. We laughed. It had had a long life and had travelled across state borders.....I suppose it was time for it to pass. After all, it did not even have a flat screen, but it was good to have a backup. I unplugged the Internet from it and proceeded to disconnect all the cords. I saved he keyboard, mouse, and speakers and left the monitor and tower sitting on the desk. After a day or morning the loss I hoisted the tower and the monitor into my car and drove to the dumpster. I sat the two components neatly beside it and left in anguish. I should have taken a photo of the deceased. It was so forlorn.

I am just now recognizing the lost, and realize that I lost photos from my old Kodak camera, songs I had downloaded and all the information I saved...it wasn't a lot, and hopefully I can find the photos on a jump drive....ah well such is life.....I guess I am back to playing Carrie on my laptop.
