Yes, I need a little Christmas. I found this via flickr. Cute glass Anthro bowls filled with kisses and glitter trees. Such a cute idea for Christmas. I know it's March, but in nine more months it won't be.

Easter egg-stravaganza...

I am patiently waiting and counting the minutes until I head to our adopted school! We are throwing the first graders an Easter party and my car truck SUV is loaded to the brim with Easter baskets for the kiddos. When I shopped for all the goodies Wednesday my buggy was brimming and the gentleman in the line behind me wanted to know if I was a teacher....my response, "I might as well be." I love volunteering and helping out and am so very very looking forward to the party. Thoughts of the party inspired copious amounts of Easter googling and here's a tablescape I found via Southern Living. Yum! And check out my new favorite--Moss!

Mary, Mary, quite contrary.

How does your garden grow? Well, Mary I am not, but I am in quite a quandary as to what the flower design should be for my group's annual meeting. Yes, I am wearing my party planning/event coordinator hat with this one. I like the idea of tall arrangements of white blooming branches, maybe cherry blossoms for the large arrangements and small tightly grouped table arrangements in white and green, but as to the overall design I have yet to decide (and I must by next Monday). Here are some selections:
1. Too casual, but good color scheme.2. This makes me like pink.3. Love the sliver vase.4. Now we are getting somewhere.5. A solid color choice is always bold, but often pricey....
Like I said I am getting nowhere, but I'm going to give the florist a few ideas and trust them to make everything look great. In the meantime if anyone knows of any good sites for flower arrangements send me some links...

Lovey, dovey all the time....yep this photo reminded me of The Steve Miller Band concert I went to back in 2008 for Gator Growl. Loved the band and love this cute arrangement of alphabet mugs (not that you have to get all lovey dovey). Simply select a cute word, saying or inspiration and arrange those mugs or other alphabet accouterments accordingly. Here's to a lovely weekend.....I have been counting the hours since last Sunday!!

Brown bagging it....

Well it was definitely a day for a brown bag lunch (too bad I forgot mine!). It is flooding rain here and I forgot my umbrella to make a bad day worse! I left my science class to go see the banquet facility and lo and behold it was flooding rain and I got soaked. A little drowned rat I was. My dry clean only outfit got wet cleaned. But on a brighter note I found this wonderful idea for a menu--a brown bag!A perfect rustic place setting for outdoor entertaining in the summer months to come.

Shedding layers.

Look closely now, do you spot the loverly deer sheds? Look some more....there you go. I LOVE the use of these antlers, not only are they beautiful and on point with the trend, but they are functional as well easily used as a towel rack. Yes, please!!
My guest bath lacks a towel rack and by golly I think this should be a perfect complement to the space......now I just need to con some unsuspecting gentleman into getting me some horns....hmmmmmm.......

Spring has sprung and Easter is upon us. Post my trip to Atlanta, packing gifts for first graders, and getting a science lesson together I attempted to throw some Easter on the mantle. I had purchased some greenery back in February (yep...jumped the gun on this holiday!). Well this greenery and the bunnies had been crammed into my storage closet but last night I let it all hang out, ripped into moss to find myself sneezing and with dirt on my floor, I was also lucky enough to swing by the craft store and find vases at 40% off (heck yeah!)....well anywho two hours later I found myself with a grassy Easter spread and a clean floor (thank you, vacuum).Greatly inspired by Pottery Barn and Martha I kept the decor fairly neutral and earthy...I probably need some more apothecary jars but I can't find where I stashed mine from Christmas....

Who needs sleep??

Wow! I'm in Hotlanta for a few days and time/time zones have always given me a little trouble....FYI I made a very bad, no good grade on a time test in the second grade and my mom never let me live it down. She drilled me on time zones, telling time, borrowed the clock from the teacher....reviewed and reviewed some more. Well people I did pass that tests and all subsequent tests there after.......but this trip rekindled all my time insecurities. I woke up an extra hour early to realize 2 hours later that the alarm clock in my room was set on Central Standard Time. My hotel room felt like a little time zone purgatory for a moment this morning...but hopefully everything will be right in the world tomorrow when I wake up. I just have to remember to add an hour to everything. 6am is 7am and 7am is 8am.....even my Blackberry refuses to reset itself.....how annoying? I figure the only reason I learned to tell time was to be able to wear a watch with hands because digital is not tres chic.

The Dirty Dozen.

With all the hype surrounding organics, what should we buy.....should we go all organic all the time? Barring copious amounts of Diet Coke I try to eat fairly cleanly and fairly greenly, until a month ago I was only worried about eating vegetables and not concerned about where they came from, turns out some of these greens may not be so green. Here's a rundown of the top twelve offenders: meat, milk, coffee, peaches, apples, bell peppers, strawberries, celery, lettuces, grapes, potatoes, and tomatoes.

The key here is to think about the surface area of the fruit and how much skin you are ingesting. In celery's case there is not protective coating, you are eating the food itself, lettuce is another scary culprit. While we can't change all our habits we can change some, so cheers to you as I take a bite out of my organic lettuce and realize I just had raisins (inorganic grapes!) for breakfast......ugh I'm still learning.
