Chi Pier....
Thanks to Jenn's suggestion we visited Navy pier, took a spin on the Carousel and I took an embarrassing fall on the Pier. I know, I know...how? Well the answer is, I decided to give a pigeon a run for his money and sped my gait up to a moderate jog brisk walk and busted my bottom flat out on the Navy Pier blacktop. Jenn and Crystal told me to hurry up and get to my feet hoping no one saw me..then up from above I hear, "DO IT AGAIN!" A lovely couple caught the entire event on camera I believe. Good thing I have a sense of humor! Here are some shots of our visit:
Navy Pier is located on Lake Michigan, just East of Chicago's Downtown and had been a notable landmark since 1916. The pier was originally designed as a shipping and recreational facility and also served as a military training area during two world wars, a concert venue, and a home to the University of Illinois.
The Pier fell into disuse during the 1970s and 1980s and ownership of the Pier was transferred to the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority. Navy Pier was redesigned into one of the country's most unique recreation and exposition facilities.

The Windy City...
I am not in Kansas Chicago anymore....and I am so incredibly sad! I had not been on a good trip in a while (years!), to be precise Disney World, Jackson Hole and college beach trips. I signed up for a reunion trip so to speak to meet Jenn and Crystal in Chicago for an extended weekend. The cool weather, the tall buildings, a bustling city with so much to see...could I ask for anything more...well other than NYC at Christmas! Please bear with me, I took a plethora of pictures and I must share them all over the next few posts.
NBC building.
The Wrigley Building was filled with stones from different locals including my home state and one from Injun Joe's cave....I could not stop thinking Mr. Twain!

The streets were littered with several Victoria's Secret angel wings from runway shows. Of course, I had to pose-sadly I think I cheesed it up too much-these were made for Heidi Klum-not me!
American Gothic structure. We did not make it to the Art Institute, so this sculpture in front of The Chicago Tribune building will have to do.
Taken at our first lunch in Chi at Dick's.

The need for speed.....
Before driving the aforementioned Tesla, I dreamt of the perfect driving outfit. Two words: driving gloves and driving moccasins. The classic driving mocs are made by Tod's, but J.Crew offers several more affordable options, or you can go with a boho Minnetonka.
As far as gloves go, there are countless varieties from perforated to fingerless. Your options are wide open. Free People offeres several choices; the ones below are Chanel.
Now it's time to hit the road, Jack.

Go speed racer....
Last week I was fortunate to have the opportunity to take this Tesla for a swing around the block.
The novelty of it could have been the $100k plus price tag and the story that aired months ago on CNN, but novelty is one thing...performance is another. The sheer power of this vehicle I cannot describe. I waited for what seemed like days to drive this car. I feared that the opportunity to get behind the wheel was going to escape me, but last Thursday I managed to snag a ticket to hop in the drivers seat.
I crept out of the parking lot in this low slung car and eased onto the blacktop. The only noise was the purr of the cars wheels on the pavement. There was no engine noise. And when I gave it gas accelerated the speed was amazing. 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds. There was no hesitation. Once you accelerate the car is small jet taking off and once your foot eases off the accelerator the car immediately stops. That's all electric for you--there is no circuit completed and no electricity being produced.
Although this car has just enough space for two smallish people and won't get me to Disney World, if I had extra dough laying around, this baby would be mine......amazing!
Half a week later I am still dreaming about this Tesla and there is still a twinkle in my eye....now I truly understand the love affair people have with sports cars....pure adrenaline, but for now my sport ute is doing well and hauls things quite nicely. I love my Henri!

Thoughts on the 31st.....
I received this very cute ecard from BHG this morning and could not resist sharing! I want to create a sequined pumpkin-forget carving and seeding the orange beast. This card also reminds me of another very cool card I got with an F. Scott Fitzgerald quote: You always look so cool. Yes, the quote is from The Great Gatsby.

Watch out!
Too much is never enough. Sure Coco Chanel suggested that we remove one item before leaving the house, but the current look is layers.
Layers of fabric, layers of texture, and layers of jewelry. I always stack two to three bracelets with my double-strap Anthro watch, but check out this look. I am going to start piling on the watches.
Mom, can you get me the gold one?

Let's hear it for the boys....
Not a day goes by that I don't see an article of clothing referred to as boyfriend this or boyfriend that, and this weekend I succumbed to the pressure and bought a pair of these Crew pants.
I remember when the only boyfriend article of clothing was an unpopular over sized sweater, but now there are over sized jeans, pants, sweaters and shirts--and oxfords. Yes, ladies, we are borrowing from the boys...
