High five to my friend who is moving to "The District" to become a hotshot attorney. He will be gone come August and is in the midst of planning a genius studio space outfitting it with Ikea....and for less than $300 (minus the bed). Here are some of his picks:Good luck, M!

Like a Rolling Stone.

A rolling stone gathers no moss....a person that keeps moving will never get stuck. Mina Stone is definitely not stuck. Love her simple, chic designs. Keep not standing fixed and rooted, briskly venture, briskly roam.

Only time will tell.

If you are bored with the classics, tired of staring at the second hand, and have $1000 to spare might I recommend this hip square. Granted I will not be shelling out a grand, but the concept is cool.

Mixed tape.

Remember those mixed tapes and cassettes of yesteryear. Well, neither do I,the closest I came was a couple of Barbie and Disney cassettes.....I grew up a CD girl creating mixed Cd's if you will. But these accessories scream 80's retro and are giving me a flashback....

Marc Jacobs created a USB port in 3 designs....so pick your mix!Chanel is leaving nothing to chance developing it's on retro cassette bag. Clear and complete with a kitschy rabbit's foot.

Guilty as charged.....

Have I told you lately how much I like Gilt. Thanks Mike for the tip! Sure the clothes are tempting but every once in a while I casually click the home tab and am utterly astonished. I wiped the drool off my computer when I saw these beauties.This British furniture and fabric house is known for its boho chic and statement pieces, but founder Martin Waller’s inspirations also come from far beyond England’s green fields. The company’s kilim trunk is a coffee table upholstered in Eastern tapestries, while the U.S. Flag Hirschorn chair is a mod take on Arne Jacobsen’s Egg chair. *Via Gilt

Paper Trail.

I am a sucker for paper art. Have been since I was a kid...it's the one type of art that I enjoy...it keeps me entertained and my hands busy enough to stay focused. I was thrilled to happen upon David Stark on D*S. Together they created a pop up store/installation that will be open for those two days only. The (purely paper) Flower Shoppe is at the west elm store on Broadway and 62nd Street. All of the flowers, plants, gardening tools, and even the actual shop itself are made from paper created from discarded books....now that's reading between the lines....

The find for the day is Iron Gate. Vintage inspired pieces, test tube flower vases, carved deer heads....yes, please :)

Speaking of good design and Bob and Cortney Novogratz, here are some design reads I would love to peruse.

Ninth inning..

An awesome show you must check out is Nine by Design on Bravo. 2 designers, 6 kids and one baby could spell trouble for most, but not for Bob and Cortney Novogratz. These uber chic flippers flip the houses and raise their family in the chaos, but end up on their feet in the midst of this organized chaos.The husband-and-wife team created Sixx Design develops fantastic spaces out of unlikely places. The family, or more aptly put herd, has moved 10 or 12 times and credits their success to taking everything in stride and day by day. Their design style mixes antiques with modern pieces which I adore. It is obvious they they truly are doing what they love.

Eight legs a week.

The next big thing: Octopus-enough said. Check out these octo-designs from Anthro. My wish is for an Octopus bangle bracelet very similar to the fork post from earlier.
I need eight legs in my life, can anyone help a gal out?

Put a name on it.

Today I am loving these monogram and other designs. A monogram beats a Sharpie label any day.

I by no means see things as being black or white, but I am naturally drawn to all things black and white...particularly because it takes color out of the equation for a self-proclaimed indecisive individual. Check out these neutral spaces.

Design delights...

Bear with me I have several design picks for the week day:
1. White out. Love the table complemented by the stark antler lamp.2. Simple white walls, leather chairs draped in sheep skins with a plush rug and a modern centre table.3. White leather modern couch, flokati rug and glass table. The entire house flows with a mix of lines.4. Taxidermy. Yep, I cannot make it through a design post without the mention of deer busts.5. Loving the zigzag floor with the contrasting graphic wall paper in the rear of the space.6. Moroccan inspired bed/couch and the art installation of flowers on the wall.6. Love the seating arrangement. Leather mixed with a plush couch. The grey cabinetry and the centre cushions covered in Wisteria-style covers.7. Loving the headboard and fur blanket at the base of the bed...not to mention that zebra pelt.8. Mix tape. First off, gray walls and the mix of a comfy Victorian couch with chairs for casual occasional dining.9. The classic Ruthie Sommers pose a la my fave Domino. Love the couch, sconce, mirror, dress....everything.10. Antlers over a fireplace, need I say more?11. Red, white and blue without it being July? Yes, please....if only for the fun of it (see the cut out?)....12. Live, love, laugh. Love the art.13. Antlers, white leather, exposed brick and an animal rug....I could not ask for more.14. Wonderful display of sunglasses...if only I had that many pairs. In my book I consider sunglasses a constant. Pick a look and stick with it. Know what works and they will be your trademark.15. Dark walls, pink and animal. Perfect combo.16. Love the collection of vintage ribbons in the bottom right hand corner.17. Crisp whites mixed with punch sorbet colors.18. Antler, animal, black and white...my go to choices.19. Cute idea for a girls room.20. Mapping out.....21. Outfit to room...gosh darn it, I heart yellow and black. Georgia tech.... 22. I love Christmas and love these cluttered creations.23. Love the white beachy look. It resembles Seaside and Alys Beach. The careful arrangement of stones with manicured grass between is a spectacular contrast.24. Loving the green accents and the kimono charcoal.25. The art print on the back wall vaguely resembles an Anthro copy by Hatchshow Print. Love.26. I adore the look of inside wants out. The windows open the room to the exterior, and the clean lines of the chairs compliment monochromatic nature of the floor....and guess what...the rug! 27. Love the horns. Enough said. Oh and this ones from the designers over at Tracery (good taste if I do say so myself)
