Belated birthday!

A very merry unbirthday to me! Well it came a day late and a dollar short, but my gift from Anthropologie came and I only wish I could use it. 15% off at my favorite store, yes please....thankfully there is not one nearby, coupled with the fact that the discount had to be used in the month of July....so it looks like I will have a few extra bucks in my wallet. But....seriously how precious is the candle necklace card? Genius.

Wanna be a billionaire....

So freaking bad! Buy all of the things I never had.....I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine....maybe not a billion dollars but for 10 grand you could indulge at Gilt. How amazing is the Swarovski encrusted dress, but what I was really lusting after is the vintage Van Cleef and Arpels watch....where is the knockoff when you need one??

Ad-visor....

Just when I thought visors were a thing of the past I see people wearing them....granted these people are 30 something, have no taste and not necessarily wearing them for fashion. So what do you think....are visors cool or cringe-worthy?

Louie, Louie....

Oh no. Me gotta go....get this bag! Channeling The Kingsmen via Animal House I am madly in love with this vintage Louis Vuitton bag. Circa 1920 and priced at $5K it is definitely beyond my reach but I am dreaming and I just found a new website: One Kings Lane. Basically Gilt for home. Yum!

Guilty as charged.....

Have I told you lately how much I like Gilt. Thanks Mike for the tip! Sure the clothes are tempting but every once in a while I casually click the home tab and am utterly astonished. I wiped the drool off my computer when I saw these beauties. This British furniture and fabric house is known for its boho chic and statement pieces, but founder Martin Waller’s inspirations also come from far beyond England’s green fields. The company’s kilim trunk is a coffee table upholstered in Eastern tapestries, while the U.S. Flag Hirschorn chair is a mod take on Arne Jacobsen’s Egg chair. *Via Gilt

Dessert chic....

.....Or dessert sheik rather. When asked what one style should viewers take away from the new SATC flick SJP aptly responded dessert chic....or sheik....get it? She responded, laughingly. She urged viewers and women alike to invest in a long flowing dress. Here are some Saks finds from C&C and Tbags.....tie-dyed goodness, if you ask me.

How much is that?

My memory was jogged the other night, and I remembered that I had not looked at the true cost of the Twelve Days of Christmas. This year the cost only went up about $800 as compared to last year. The main driver is the sharp increase in the price of gold.Partridge, $10 (last year: $20)
Pear Tree, $150 (last year: $200)
Two Turtle Doves, $56 (last year: $55)
Three French Hens, $45 (last year: $30)
Four Calling Birds (canaries), $600 (last year: same)
Five Gold Rings, $500 (last year: $350)
Six Geese a-Laying, $150 (last year: $240 )
Seven Swans a-Swimming, $5,250 (last year: $5,600 )
Eight Maids a-Milking, $58 (last year: $52)
Nine Ladies Dancing (per performance), $5,473 (last year: $4,759)
10 Lords a-Leaping (per performance), $4,414 (last year: same)
11 Pipers Piping (per performance), $2,285 (last year: same)
12 Drummers Drumming (per performance), $2,475 (last year: same)

So if you are looking to buy a ton of birds it will only set you back $87, 403.

{Re}gifting....

Not a redo, but regarding gifting shopbop has made it very easy. I normally abhor any gift guides, or any site telling you what to buy for a specific personality, but this is one I can live with. Maybe it's because I wish I had everything from this site....maybe because of the way it's laid out, by style, not necessarily personality. And I must admit I fall into the free spirit workaholic glamorous type...wow what a combo. It almost could be referred to as style on acid, sometimes I am amazed that I can walk into my closet and come out with a coherent ensemble....but hey the girl's got style if I do say so myself.

CK you won!

While on my way to chi-town I made a pit stop in the Ham and found four fab pairs of shoes. these were my favorites and to my surprise shoe prices are negotiable. These are Calvin Klein cut out boots for Fall 2009. Very Sea of Shoes. I have braved wearing them with black tights and hope to throw in some grey. Who knows...I might add orange next Saturday for some holiday happiness!

Personal shopper....

Dear Anthropologie,
Can I be a buyer? I had these science flasks before they were sitting proudly on your shelves, my globe is displayed on my dresser and a geode purchased in DC at The Smithsonian sits snuggly beneath my Diet Coke as a converted coaster. I know you're a tough customer but I have impeccable taste and am always one step ahead with style....so please, hear me out. I think we'd make a great pair!
Best.

Rule 5.

Enough said.

A good year....

1956 was a good year for Pendleton, their reversible plaid skirt debuted, and 53 years later it resurfaces. The classic is woven the same as its predecessor in American mills of virginwool and is as relevant now as it was over 50 years ago.

A la carte...

Found! My favorite chair...sadly the price tag is upward of $3k so they are not a possibility...but I am staying on the lookout for a knockoff.

A new Olympic sport?

...not exactly, but during these challenging financial times consumers are becoming increasingly more price focused. Over the past year and a half {December 2007, to be precise} consumers have sought methods to cut back, ways to get more for their money, and new ways to think when it comes to spending. I am reminiscing over a previous recession entry that stated that consumers were buying luxury items that made them "feel good"--meaning Uggs over Manolo's. Consumers were looking for a comfort zone, but now are consumers waiting on the next good deal? Since the Cash for Clunkers program was enacted, car sales have reached the highest point in a year {Possibly skewed, but definitely a sign in a postive direction}. Were people able to buy a new car and just waited? One man, as quoted from CNN, claimed he traded a used car he paid $4,000 for and received $4,500....what is fair about that? Should the stimulus given exceed the value, I think not. But with this Government, it actually does not shock me. So what is the next big thing, the next chip on the table? Haggling. Car prices are mostly negotiable, but what about shoes, groceries, jewelry or furniture? Some retailers are auctioning groceries, so if you are in a haggling mood, it looks as though you won't have to wait for Aunt Edna's heirlooms to be auctioned at an estate sale to get a piece of the action. Q: What, if anything, would you be willing to bargain for?
