I do believe, and dare I say, am getting into the Valentine's spirit today! I think I can manage two days of the hype and watch the season pass gracefully! In honor of the big day and my love of all things crafty and decorating related I have been scouring the blogs I have admittedly not looked at in over a month! I tracked down some wonderful projects for VDay.....or really any day for that matter. All these bright and shiny ideas from SisBoomDayDreams . Enjoy!
The first idea starts with a vintage book with a perfect pair of glittered hearts glued onto the open pages and the perfect statement "Wish for it!" This reminds me of a project I made last Christmas or the Christmas before that for my mom. I ordered a variety of Sally Jean charms as they had been featured in Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion, and had a charm bracelet made. Then I was left with no idea what to wrap it in. I had seen the perfect display of a bracelet within the pages of a book--Eureka! I thought. I bought a vintage Christmas Carol book off eBay and glued the last half of all the pages together. I then took an exacto knife and carved, so to speak, the pages out to form roughly a 1" rectangle large enough to hold the bracelet. I left the fist half of the book untouched so that to the eye of the beholder or gift receiver you could flip through the pages and think you had received a vintage book. I then tied it with a velvet ribbon and it was ready to gift!
Look at this lovely heart ornament wreath. This uses the same tiny, vintage glass Christmas balls that I used on a Christmas wreath. How sweet is this?
Let me say one thing.....I L-O-V-E glitter!! I don't know whether it is the sparkle or the fact I was denied this simple pleasure as a child. No, I'm not blaming my mom....I would have probably gotten it all in my eyes and scattered everywhere had I been allowed.
This great craft starts with votive candle holders, coated in modge podge, regular craft glue will work perfectly. After coating the holders cover in glitter of your choice and wait about 36 hours and you will have your shining creation! Add candles for the perfect shimmer!
I can remember making flowers out of crepe paper as a child, but this wreath is a little different...it uses coffee filters! Begin with a wooden or cardboard wreath frame and the smallest coffee filters you can find. Jennifer as SisBoom used 3" filters and died them with crystal light powder citing that she had no food coloring in her home--how innovative! Too bad I can't use Diet Coke! After all of your filters are died and dried affix them one at a time to the wreath frame using hot glue. Fold the filter in half glue and stick and VOILA! This wreath could easily be adapted for other holidays or for everyday!
Happy Thursday! I think I have some more blog browsing to do~
