Flower child....

The reason I subscribe to social networking varies based on the medium, but I must say when I occasionally sign onto Twitter I find a much needed surprise! This morning Free People's status urged everyone to check out these one-of-a-kind necklaces made from vintage enamel flower broaches--excellent marketing guys.... so bright and fun! My kind of recycling!

Design lottery picks.....

Some design picks for a Monday....all are winners.
Love the two mirror forms.Yellow shutters make everything better. The window boxes are absolutely delightful, but with my lack of a green thumb they would not be a good choice.Wall of photos and cowhide chair--yes, one day I will have one of these chairs. I can't help my odd cravings.Statement lighting.Love the glam chandelier with the modern bulbs. To the common eye, this light seems Gothic alone, but in this bright blue kitchen it adds a touch of whimsy, pricey whimsy, but whimsy nonetheless.Vintage chair cover.Colorful couch, bedding, lamps and sleek steel frame bed frame. I am definitely loving the couch as I have been in search of the perfect one for two years.

Don't stop til you get enough...

Since the MJ incidence I have been more aware of my musical surroundings and heard some fun lyrics during a rerun of Entourage. "I'm a cold Italian pizza, I could use a lemon squeezer." Monkey Man by the Rolling Stones is the perfect get off your feet and groove song. Another fave from the show was the opening Superhero by Jane's Addiction and last but not least Reelin' in the Years by Steely Dan. So this week "get familiar" with some music......

Get packing....

Charles {Chuck}, the office sage, stopped by office cube to give me his monthly travel advice....start planning, you know if you don't plan you will never go. It took me five years to make it to Europe......well actually it went more like this, "Where there is no vision, there is no vacation." I quickly retorted with, "Where there is no vacation, people perish." Thanks to Proverbs for supplying the original quote, "Where there is no vision, people perish." I gave him excuse after excuse of why I never take a blowout vacation, but to no avail...much like the Terminator he will be back. No offense though, I do enjoy our little chats!
Mr. Chuck was also kind enough to share a battery of "you need to retire" reasons. He said none of them applied to me, but (of course) I begged to differ. "You know it is time to retire when you have so much vacation you could go bankrupt using it." I said I was so new that I could go bankrupt using my two weeks plus carry over. This warranted a good laugh and a few more more war stories.....love the little laughs that make the day pass....

Oh, Martha!

How I love your crafts! Well June 21 marked the official start of summer, and yesterday Martha's 60 Days of Summer was delivered to my inbox. Here's to 60 good ideas!

Expired...

Well, about two weeks ago I received the dreaded message, "This device has not been updated in over a year." The good ol' Garmin was no doubt behind the times and in desperate need of a face map lift. I was tired of getting lost or rerouted to roads that no longer existed so I bit the bullet and am $120 poorer, and hopefully by the end of the day will have new maps! Not sure whether this is a good sign or not, it has been updating since 7:30am and is 48% finished.....at this rate...well let's not think about that. Positive thoughts....positive thoughts......

Lunching ladies....

To quote Ms. Frankel from RHoNY, "I don't lunch (a verb), I eat lunch, but I don't lunch." Well I eat lunch like Bethenny and half the time I end up bringing my own snack and am trouble with putting it in a plastic bag. So in the search for something pretty I found two options from Vera Bradley. These would make a nice change instead of shoving the bag into my MJ (Marc Jacobs, not Michael) carry-all, but then I might end up feeling like I was in elementary school (plaid L.L. Bean bag).....ahh decisions that will wait.

Dog Days of Summer....

Today, June 26th is officially Take Your Dog to Work Day.....mine was a little majorly rambunctious and did not make the trip, and not to make a tangential comment but I think she is in AL to stay despite my persuasive arguments.......

Furniture faves....

Some faves for Friday via Apt Therapy, Point Click, and Anthro.

Stick it!

A little more blog love, I spotted these sticks and plan on trying it in a few months. I have silver ones that I mom made, but white seems like an obvious choice as well.

Looking at......

....the Man in the Mirror.....I wish everyone would stop the sadness over Michael Jackson and just think about the style and music contributions. Originally I objected to a Jackson post, but why not....come on, sequin jackets, fedoras, white suits, aviators....take a gander.

Yum!

The ability to construct perfect teeny tiny petit fours has always escaped me. My Mom has suffered through my poor attempts at imperfect squares with runny icing and bless her heart always says they are good....but trust me, they are not Martha good, not even Sandra Lee good, but I have not given in or given up. Well, technically I did give and bought petit fours from the perfect bakery in AL for her birthday and then some at J's here for Easter {not as good as Rolen's}, but it is all over now I think I have found the perfect solution...I just need to track down patience to make these.
Thank Darby over at Fly Through My Window and find her recipe here.

P.Y.T.

Pretty young thing.....photos of me when I was young playing at PC Beach with Heidi from Wisconsin and little broham Brian. Weekend here I come!

Don't stop 'til you get enough.....

I can't help, but use some Jackson lyrics today {even though ironically I did yesterday before I heard the news}.

For better or worse, we all like to upgrade, but how to we determine what to upgrade to, what is the zenith we need to reach, how do we bifurcate the good from the bad...well I have just the answer. The Upgrader, although it is geared toward men it is fun to do a little man-search, best Vodka, best phone, best computer, best dress watch, best designer shades, etcetera....thanks Michael for sharing this a while back!

Working for the weekend....

A little look at my crafting from Father's Day weekend.....

Say no...

...to plastic with this Anya Hindmarch bag that was available for a short time in 2008 at Whole Foods. I was lucky enough to snag a new one off eBay and have loved it ever since.

Addicted to love....

o....love of fashion. Okay, the first step is admitting you have a problem. Take a look at this my closet and you will see. Way too many shoes.....so many that the boxes have spilled forth outside the tiny walk-in closet.
