A long December.

....and there's reason to believe, maybe this year will be better than the last. It has certainly been a December to remember. A new job, a new city, a new life. I am starting over as I did three years ago...let's see how it goes.

And so this is Christmas....

It is hard to fathom that I started this blog a few years ago with a handful of Christmas posts and now Christmas has come and gone....but the blog remains. Merry Christmas all, and to all a good night.

Loft-y goals..

Looking for a place to call home I was dead set on living in a chic urban loft....little did this small town chica take a moment to think that living urban could be creepy and notexactly safe, but gosh darn it isn't it gorgeous!

Great and small...

When it comes to Christmas it's important to remember all God's creatures great and small, and these pet perks made me smile. Who doesn't want a cat tepee? Now I just need a cat....{sigh}.....

Bang your drum!

Emersonmade. Simply put the cutest pins and chicest outfits. I wish I had this girls style and a big red poppy to go along with it. And now the she makes table linens and runners. Love!
Can I please have a tweed jacket that is this well fitting? So chic yet so funny {and moderately inappropriate}.Emersonmade. I need you right now. You and your style.

Oh Happy Christmas {Eve}....

With all the facebooking, tweeting and blogging this Christmas story seemed apropos. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Castles made of sand.

Thanks, Mom, for gifting me a spectacular prism of sand, sea and shells to remind me of me beach home. The perfect piece of earth that doesn't require water and reminds me of my salty connections....truly the salt of the earth.

Wall-E

I am desperately in {want} and need of wall art for my new digs. The empty frames from my last pad have got to go. Currently my only thoughts are subway posters but that's so yesterday....any ideas are greatly suggested! Thanks!

Royal flush.....

I could care less about the fact Prince William is betrothed and Kate Middleton is being chased by paparazzi, but this vintage shot of Diana and her fab Hunter wellies is simply glorious.I can't believe I forgot to pack them as I am in the backwoods of Bama. I guess some things never go out of style.

City Love.

Congrats to me, I did it again. I moved. I think I should make it a recurring thing every couple of years to mix things up a bit. Don't get me wrong I wanted the change...new job...new challenges, but I must admit that I have city love for the place I spent three and a half years in. It is impossible to fathom that I blindly moved to a new place and made lasting friendships that I almost couldn't bear leaving, but no one ever accused me of having a lack of guts and I am off to do it again. Here's to a new year, new city and new possibilities....and here's to hoping for more city love.

Pen and teller.

Remember when you were the cool kid in elementary school and your pencils had your name on them. Well, here is the adult version. Don't mind if I have a few.....maybe something along the lines of CEO would be a nice start though. Thank you, Max Fischer.

Joy to the world.

Ahh the perils of moving are enough to rattle even the thickest skin. Some lessons learned:
  • Even after throwing out crap I still had unforeseen amounts of junk
  • Spending three days with total strangers can make even the unlikeliest people friends {hence my relationship with my movers}
  • Eventually you do run out of room in the living room for moving boxes
  • Packed boxes take up less space than unpacked boxes and yes, there can be a single lamp shade in a five foot tall box
  • Let the movers unpack mirrors.....the paper is a bi***
  • You do not have to have food in your house to eat
  • You can sleep several nights on your bed without sheets {due to the fact you cannot find your sheets}
  • Pray you don't have to start work two days after your stuff arrives
  • Moving states you might as well be crossing enemy lines when it comes to car tags and titles
  • When it comes to draperies, measure twice and cut once
  • Don't weather strip your door and deadbolt the other door
  • Schedule the cable two weeks in advance lest you want to be tv-less
  • Don't live downtown, near train tracks or in an uber cool loft lest you want to fight the homeless
  • Don't leave electronics in your car
  • Hide your kids, hide your wife......

Miss Manners.

A well-appointed table is a necessity and thanks to my movers I was informed that I have more kitchen crap things than the average bear. I have plates and silverware but according to my mum I needed napkins and such so I would not mar the antique table....and if you give this mouse a cookie she will ask for a glass of milk. I got napkins and such and am now craving more plates, glasses and napkin rings. I found these unconventional lovelies courtesy of etsy. Whatcha think? Maybe not formal enough but enjoyable.

Festivus!

As of late I feel a tad discombobulated....I moved in a matter of a few weeks, started a new job and am attempting to learn a whole new city in the midst of the holidays and spending time with friends and family. I have been a slacker at blogging and am hoping to catch up soon. Stay tuned! It could be a Festivus {and Christmas} miracle.....
