Roam free.....

As the Queen song goes I want to break free! While I am definitely known to complain about the heat wave and am self-admittedly a winter/cold weather worshipper days like these make me want a high school skip day. A day everyone takes off on a whim and does nothing! I want my freedom, I want to run away, I want to get away, I want the sun and most of all want to relax. I have spring fever that is only cured by packing the beach bag, cranking up the car, opening up the sunroof, and heading over the beach bridge to the sand and surf that await!

These photos represent my sad, lackluster trip back to the office (no play day today!) Maybe next time......

Really super....

Another great letterpress design! When you don't know what to say......Read a view posts below to learn more.

Pandemic Planning...

With the recent onset and panic about swine flu we are left with thoughts of Malaria and bird flu. I know that this situation should not be made light of, but you have to laugh at this monitor.

Pressed for words....

Seven Pounds was quite possibly one of the more saddening films I have seen, the only bright spots were Rosario Dawson's wardrobe and Will Smith repairing her letterpress as a token of care.

Letterpress printing is a term for the 'relief' printing using a press with a "type-high bed", in which a reversed, raised surface is inked and then pressed into a sheet of paper. Dating back hundreds of years, this form of printing is resurfacing into modern art as craftsmen and women bring back traditional techniques to incorporate modern designs. Take a look at these lovely letterpress designs.

Just dance....

Gonna be okay....well according to Lady Gaga all you have to do is dance, and this cute art from Dallas Shaw over at Dilly Dallas suggests the same. So today dust off those shoes, pick up your feet and do a little dance.

Design appetizers...

Here are some interesting ideas I spotted online late one night. I love the Subway sign in this picture.Love the "love" art, the fur, and both chairs.Love the wall color, the mirror and eclectic starfish display.Love the ribbon bulletin boards.

Pouf the magic dragon!

Thanks Peter, Paul & Mary for giving us this lovely song (joking!) But thanks to Free People for creating this irresistible pouf! I loved this so much and I have one thanks to Mom! I will take snaps of it soon!

The writing is on the wall....

Or vase in this case! You can easily create your own by painting a vase with chalkboard paint and doodling to your heart's content.....maybe that's what I should do with spare vases. Also, some florists have been know to paint vases hideous colors, so you can "rough up" the existing paint with fine grade sand paper and paint over with the chalkboard paint (I believe it comes in green or black). Black is more modern and the green gives off a teacher-vibe.

Bee good...

As most of you already know, Anthropolgie is one of my favorite stores for fun and different clothes/jewelry/decorating ideas. I posted some Anthro shop windows back in December, but happily found some of their Spring display. In honor of all things green and relating to preservation Anthropolgie created a shop window dedicated the bees/honey/pollination. This honey comb was created form hundreds of plastic bags stacked one on top of the other (talk about trash to treasure) and the rest of the display contained bee facts, such as bees are the only insect that supply humans with food. Although, technically in my opinion other insects pollinate flowers/fruits/vegetables/trees and enable the plants to produce thereby supplying us food indirectly (Yes, the inner science teacher comes out!). Take a look at these innovative windows. The million honey bear bottles is an amazing installation.

School's out....

...for THE SUMMER! Well, the approaching month of May has triggered the Alice Cooper cult classic to become stuck in my mind! Can you hear is now? School's out for the summer, school's out forever, no more teachers dirty looks. I am singing the lyrics as I type. I remember those wonderful days of high school when I would start humming the song beginning right after Spring Break and then those college days when I would sing the song out loud for the month between Spring semester and Summer. Ah, to be young and free, now that I am in the workforce I am greatly missing the ability to sing this song. Granted, school is out for good (unless...) but the fact that school is out forever somehow leaves me with a sinking feeling. I love learning and I loved school, hardly a day goes by that I don't want to sit in a classroom again. Well, except for those pesky final exam days. Oh well, I guess all that's left to do is reminisce....I wonder if this can be the song next Friday at 3 p.m?Well we got no choice
All the girls and boys
Makin all that noise
'Cause they found new toys

Well we can't salute ya
Can't find a flagIf that don't suit ya
That's a drag

School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces

No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks

Well we got no class
And we got no principles
And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes

School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces

No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks

Out for summer
Out till fall
We might not go back at all

School's out forever
School's out for summer
School's out with fever
School's out completely

Step to it now...

In these shoes, who wouldn't want to strut their stuff. These Alexander McQueen beauties are amazing and I adore the throwback to ballerina point shoes, except these have a metallic pointe! Definitely power shoes.....

Choooooo are you?

Choo, Who are you? After my Widespread Panic concert extravaganza, I have BOHO on the brain and spotted this Jimmy Choo purse on a new site Outnet which is much like Bluefly in that it carries designer duds at a discount. They have a nice selection of jumpsuits for the fashionista (I know a few of you cringed when you read jumpsuit). Enough about Outnet, this bag is perfect to go with mocs or you can add it to the chicest ensemble for Boho flair and if you do a little browsing you can probably snag a similar one for less through Free People or Moccasin House. Happy shopping~

Coolness......

I love Sundance (the jewelry company founded by Robert Redford). How cool is this vintage picture?

Under my thumb.....

Under my apothecary jar...how quaint is this display. A dish brimming with jewelry carefully covered by an apothecary jar.

Add and Subtract.....

I adore word games/puzzles and this one was too cute not to share....had you ever thought of the Easter Bunny as Santa (hey, it's like Christmas in April right?) or April as March......but maybe that one should be May=April + Optimism afterall, April showers bring May flowers....maybe I should just stick with adding and subtracting numbers....oh the possiblities.....

Rainy days....

Great inspirational quote by Einstein on a rain spattered window. Remember he also said: Genuis is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration.

Book worm!

I posted this idea a while back (Christmas), but found instructions and pictures online for hollowing out a book. For this project, an invitation was inserted into the carved out indentation. Very nifty!

Re-gift!

Not the re-gift you were thinking.....I am speaking of repeating the pattern and wrapping all gifts in the same manner much like these. Now, if only they were orange boxes with black ribbons....ah Hermes!

Most serached....

These wordy pillows sum up Googles top searches for the year. How cool is that?? I wonder what 2009 will bring?

After my own heart.......

These ice cube molds are so cute and the perfect way to glam up your morning glass (or gallon, in my case) of Diet Coke!

Don't cry for me....

Argentina! This very pinkberry house can be found in Buenos Aires--talk about standing out in a crowd!

Fur Real!

Yes, even in a Naval Air Museum I managed to find a veritable array of clothing including this suit made entirely of fur--it even included knee length fur boots!

Wondering where my ticket goes....

A photo journey through the museum. In between grabbing children and herding them through I managed to snap some pretty cool shots. You need an emergency exit with three classes of kindergarteners!
