Well not exactly, but I thought it was close enough to slip in a John Mayer song title......I was actually running (walking) through the halls of elementary school.....for good reason, of course.Ah, the life of a child....so carefree, so joyful....those were the days! At my office we have a Partnership in Education with an elementary school where each department takes on a class to host parties for the class throughout the year. We have Ms. Lobley's Kindergarten class at Allie Yniestra. Each year we host a Christmas, Valentine's, Easter and end of the year party. I have done this for a year and a half and thoroughly enjoy it. I even had the opportunity to take the class to the Zoo last year with 2 other volunteers. These are some photos of our Vday party on February 13, 2009.
Here is a photo of the outside of the classroom. As you can see, the children made Abe Lincoln crafts from paper plates. The physical school building is an old school building complete with an auditorium with tiny vintage wooden chairs. You can see the rich history in the building....sadly it is up for sale and will soon be destroyed.Enter....only if you dare to join a world of five year olds! Coloring their coloring books....they always want help coloring. One little girl even sight read for me. I try to get some education in with the cookies! The classroom. Michael and I were no doubt in deep conversation about the Vday treats. Here you can see the whole classroom...complete with a jungle of animals and vines hanging from the ceiling. And the party ensues....as I hurriedly grab the treat bags to hand out.Reading the valentines they each exchanged. Some of the children had left over cards and insisted on giving them to me!Lining up for the card exchange.Bottoms up with your Capri Sun!
Adieu.....and then there was peace.
