Pay dirt....the dirt on the good 'ole American pay system. Being the corporate cube monkey that I am I have to vent about this issue. Please allow me this moment to reflect, sometimes my blog is decorating, other times life, but utimately what makes me tick. My reflecting pool in the digital world, if you will.While we think that equality is alive and well, the crux of the matter is that women are still underpaid, still not taken seriously, and still not equal to male counterparts in the same jobs at the same companies.
-For every dollar a man makes, a woman makes 78 cents. The number has increased a whopping 1 cent since 2006.
-Women straight out of college make $15,498 less per year than the boys club, and will make $210,000 less over a 35-year career.
-A mid-twenties female PR specialist makes he same as male colleagues, but two decades later will make $35,000 less.
-Female CEO's make $303,00 less.
-Male physicians rake in 22 percent more than the girls.
-Male IT geeks earn 11.9 percent more than female counterparts.
-At this rate, women are forecasted to reach pay equity in 2040.....
The real question is will it be 2040 or will it be never?
