I caught the baking bug yesterday and created a yummy St. Pat's treat, the only problem was the elusive green sugar. I had all the baking supplies, but no green sugar, there was none at Wally World but a quick trip to Publix yielded not one but two options--kelly green and lime green sugar. I had to go with the kelly, classic. If you would like to make your own sweet treat, here's how.
Cream together:
1 cup margarine (2 sticks)
2/3 cup sugar
Beat in:
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
Add:
2 1/2 cups flour
Mix until blended. Chill dough 3-4 hours in refrigerator or 15-30 minutes in freezer (I use the fast freezer option). Roll out dough and cut with cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sugar of choice before baking. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes (6-7 if your oven cooks fast).
