Part IV:

A Voyage to the Country of the Hounynhms:

While I am poking fun at myself I will finish the funny test stories. It happened in World Lit with Dr. Mueller. It was another final exam and this exam covered the book Gulliver's Travels. I was very familiar with the story-I read the book, watched the movie and had watched the Wishbone (don't laugh) version when I was younger. I knew the story backwards and forwards, knew the meanings of everything, understood every paragraph....or so I thought.
Our professor let us use a cheat sheet note card, and of course I took full advantage of this. I wrote microscopically small on my 8 1/2" x 11" sheet (front and back). I included all references, important quotes, conflicts, everything a junior literature student could think of.
The questions came, the questions went and then there was one.....the infamous one. The question went something like this describe the island that Gulliver.....well I can't even remember the question but it asked something to the extent of describing the island of the Hounynhms (without saying Hounynhms). For the life of me, I could not remember the H-word and at the moment I was thinking When-nums (pronounced like that) and there was no way I could get around this word.....so what did I do? I went with it the only way I knew how.....horse-like creatures. I proceeded to mention Yahoos and the horse-like creatures over and over....and like Mr. Hunt it worked.....
