Peachy Keene....

After rummaging through my house yesterday I found an October Country Living laying around. Yes, mom, that is probably one you were looking for a year ago. This lovely addition had wonderful suggestions for fall and Halloween decor as well as fall travel tips and festivals. Well, the one festival that struck me was the Pumpkin Fest.

Each October in the smallish town of Keene, New Hampshire (pop. 22,500) there is a Pumpkin Festival where literally thousands of pumpkins are set aglow to celebrate the season and break world records. Since 1991, the P Fest has set eight Guinness World Records for the most pumpkins in one place. But the festival is not just about setting a world record it is about celebrating the glow of the season (the fall season, that is). Take a look at these photos of fall; some were from Country Living and others were reader submitted. This first one is for Rich, me dearly departed boss that left for the Ham.Backup singers.A pumpkin after my own heart.....Christmas on a pumpkin.More "happy pills" for Rich! The towering display of scaffolds, some holding up to 1,000 pumpkins and the display has reached up to over 28,000 'kins.Snowman pumpkin and arrg.A covey of witches with the cauldron. The festival begins...
Loved this one.
