Isn't it human nature to avoid change and become comfortable with the familiar? I have been described as having a "love/hate relationship" with rules....while being fairly regimented and a self-proclaimed rule lover, fairly schedule/time oriented; I tend to have a rebellious streak that favors the imperfect, the unplanned, and the anti-rule. For example I wake up early and wouldn't know what to do if I didn't, even on Saturdays, then another part of me cringes over "planned" communities (I grew up in the country) and they remind me of The Giver. What is the world really coming to if every house is the same, we shop at the neighborhood grocery, kids play at the playground and we each have our own tiny plot of land to grow organic veggies.......seriously?
I adore creativity and unique style and if told to go right I will probably go left....stubborn definitely, rule breaker, probably not....Maybe it comes down to the point that I hate structure and hate being boxed in. Don't get me wrong I like a box, but I want a free-floating one....
Meredith on Grey's Anatomy said it best:
Knowing is better than wondering,
waking is better than sleeping,
and even the biggest failure,
even the worst,
beats the heck out of never trying.
