I cannot resist a Christmas movie. Thankfully today I have been saved by the fact that both While You Were Sleeping and You've Got Mail were on the tube today. Only fifteen days before the 25 days of Christmas movies start airing! Cannot wait! Enough about movies.....I am really dreaming of a white Christmas and probably always will. As exhibited by my Christmas decor you cannot misstep with white and Christmas. Not only do I have a traditional green tree, but I have an all white with white fairy lights. I carefully picked silver, clear, and glittery ornaments for the tree. I nearly but black and silver on the tree, but it was too trendy...the white is soft and gives a warm and welcoming glow. I found some chandelier crystals that were new in a store and wanted a few for my tree....but wait isn't everything better if you can have the original. Thankfully my aunt tends to be a bit of a collector and last Thanksgiving at the farm she pulled out a Tupperware container of chandelier crystals--two different sizes and shapes. They were gorgeous, the Sunday following Thanksgiving I ran into my house and gingerly hung them on the branches, they provided the perfect reflection of light. See.....
The idea for the paintings of new fallen snow came from Mary Englebriet's Home Companion magazine that featured Amy and David Butler's home in its Holiday 2008 issue. I also got the idea for the silver and white balls that effortlessly float in the ceiling. She hung silver orbs and they were truly dream-like, I still can't decide whether they resemble snow falling or just stars twinkling in the night sky...but do I really have to choose one or the other?? Of course not.
