Out of Africa....

Magpie “… a socially conscious art collective..." was founded in 1998 by Scott Hart and Shane Petzer. In 2006 Fine Artist and Painter Sean Daniel and Administrator Richard Panaino joined Magpie. Magpie's became popular in areas other than Cape Town (sometimes featured in Anthro), so the team turned their back on the crowded city and relocated from Cape Town to Barrydale (about two and a half hours inland) in search of a large studio to create their work. They are best known for chandeliers made from recycled materials (stay tuned for a follow-up post).
