Happy Halloweenie.
The folks over at Kate Spade donned their Halloween best as they recreated the royal affair. I must say I do love the hat and Elton, but maybe next year I will be Superman. Such a classic.

Happy Holidays!
Halloween is upon us, and browsing Pottery Barn for some inspiration I found HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS. I had heard rumors that Halloween candy was popping up on super market shelves, but this was the piece de resistance. 
Vintage skull prints, pumpkin soup bowls, Gothic bottle stops and cloches filled with spiders. 
Yes, please....with Halloween comes Christmas.

Glamoween.
Christmas in July, Halloween in May....why not? Check out these glam pumpkins. How can you not love the punky chic studded variety, the little Louis and of course Chanel....yum! Now these are pumpkins that I could sink my teeth into!

Thoughts on the 31st.....
I received this very cute ecard from BHG this morning and could not resist sharing! I want to create a sequined pumpkin-forget carving and seeding the orange beast. This card also reminds me of another very cool card I got with an F. Scott Fitzgerald quote: You always look so cool. Yes, the quote is from The Great Gatsby.

Free fallin'.....
Nothing like a little Tom Petty to kick off the fall season! I held off an entire week to put out my Halloween decor, but with only four days left in the current month I could not hold off any longer. I was barraged with 100 days of holidays emails (BHG), constant images from new fall magazines, and the pumpkins for sale....so naturally, I pulled out the orange and black and I must confess that the little twinkling lights are making me want December to hurry up and get here, but without further adieu here's the spread.
The balcony draped with tulle (tool-ay!--joking) and orange lights and my iron jack-o-lantern filled with lights.
Tiny Jack bags above my drapes. Thanks for finding these Debbie.
My glittered pumpkin--I copied Martha.
Some fall leaves crept in, black roses, and my silvered Jack. 
Much to my Mom's unmentioned chagrin this is my favorite. Very apothecary-like and very Martha. Antlers, science flask, and skulls in a cloche.
Lights with tulle above the cabinets and my Halloween luminary.
Candle holders double as pumpkin holders.
...and drum roll please, the mantle! A hodge podge of black candles, lights, tulle, pumpkins and more.
I made the banner a few years ago by photocopying pages from a vintage book and layering the triangles with black card stock, then stringing the letters.
The fireplace filled with lights and pumpkins top the found pedestals.
The broomstick and Terra cotta jack.
Full effect.

Mini meltdown...
After guiltily watching too many hours of The Zoe Project, I am dying to channel Zoe and her love for the 70s {even though I'm not sure if it's because she likes vintage or that it reminds her of her young days--Rach is 37}. 
Either way I am craving the vintage boho vibe.
Miniskirts, fringe, bell bottoms, platforms, plaid, tunics, big glasses, and caftans grew from trees, but for current interpretation the pieces need to be tempered. I know that I won't be caught dead in the shoes below.
Lucky for us, the 2009 versions abandon the cheap polyester . You can easily obtain an updated look by throwing on boho staples like peasant blouses, drawstring dresses, faded prints, jumpsuits, maxis, and a healthy amount of suede. 
And when dressing for past decades don't leave the denim behind. Pair bell bottoms and updated flares with gauzy tops and earthy, cork platforms.
Still not sure what to wear? Pop in Dazed and Confused or listen to this. Hmmm.....a Sunday viewing perhaps?
