Give me novocaine....

Horrors--a week ago my dentist informed me I had my very first cavity. My heart sank and I could not fathom that I really had one. I wanted to go back in time and brush my teeth eight times a day, but the damage was done and it was irreversible. I was in line for my very first filling and I admit I was nervous about it. Today I sat waiting in the dreaded chair for fifteen minutes nervously staring out the window wondering what was about to happen. I psyched myself up and tears welled up.....waiting....just waiting....Finally the doc stepped in. Trying to calm my nerves he started talking about what I did for a living and commented on the fact that I would make an excellent ball room dancer due to my height (random). He began the procedure and injected me with the longest (in length and time) shot I have ever received. It did not hurt. The doc asked if I was tingly. I said I was, then the drilling commenced. Oh goodness, I was not numb. He stopped and re-injected me. Two shots down and I laid back for the drilling listening to him and his assistant exchange a slur of dental speak, apply the porcelain to my tooth, shape it and dry it with a UV light. Finally I was done.....and so was my mouth. Numb did not begin to describe it. Yes, I was worried I would not regain consciousness. Two hours later I was parched and I tried to down a Diet Coke...but it was not in the cards until five and a half hours later that I regained feeling in my mouth and tongue. I'd say the shot(s) worked! Thought for the day: Brush those teethies!! In honor of my experience here's some Green Day to lighten the mood and drain the pressure from the swelling....

Doctor...doctor...

Give me the news. Did you know that when you are sick your cell phone ceases to function? Well it does after my long talk with gramps Thursday I thought things would at the least improve....well they did not as he dropped off the radar completely. I had completely written him off until Tuesday when my phone rang. Seriously.....he proceeded to go into his monologue about being sick for the weekend.....not swine flu, malaria, mono....or anything else. If anything it sounded like a head cold, and well he claimed that he stayed at his mom's house. Really? I don't know anyone younger or older that would have crashed at Mother's, but what the hay--to each their own. No I did not ask for his doctor's excuse, but I highly doubt he was that sick, so when he called to make plans I said no. Another one bites the dust~

Fresh-ca!

In the words of Sarah Jessica Parker and in honor of SATCTM2, "Hello, Lover!" Literally! This can of carbonated goodness is a delight to my taste buds! I have been sickly and living off yogurt, crackers and ginger ale--but yesterday I discovered {thanks, Mom!} this yummy old school treat. If you haven't tried this I highly recommend the peach flavor and I cannot wait to try black cherry {there's a 12 pack guiltily chilling in my fridge}.

Sicko.

Did I mention I was sick the majority of last week? Well I was...I had a humdinger of a cold with flu-like symptoms. Achy, cough, fever, chill, congestion, soar throat and the list goes on....I was also left for dead to fend for myself since no one offered to come visit.....well I will make one exception. I was on my last lap ready to crawl into bed when I heard a knock on my door. Really?! I thought who could it be....it was the florist with a bouquet of flowers sent from a good friend miles away and for that I want to say thanks! It brightened my day...and quite possibly lowered my fever...well let's not go that far.

Stick it....

Great....am I really doing this again? I felt like crap....really hungover (and I most definitely was not) at 6 one morning....then I felt nauseous the rest of the day and had a horrible head ache. I had a fleeting thought that I felt like I was having blood sugar issues. I drug my monitor out of my bathroom drawer and pricked my finger 199.....2 and a half hours following my oatmeal feeding. It should have normalized by then. Typically it would be between 80 and 150ish...but 199. I packed the device in my bag and took my sugars throughout the day. Finally it slacked off around Noon. So...yes I am pricking and sticking my finger religiously....and to think all my prick scars had disappeared and I no longer looked like a drug addict (not that they use finger tips). Saturday morning before the funeral I hit 215.....horrible! I would have liked to have had monitor Saturday night after the family dinner because I felt really light-headed...it had probably dropped below 70. It's all over the board. This morning I hit 185 (better) and finally at 10pm it dropped to 11.....we'll see if it hits 70 at 3pm.

I really think it was doing this over Christmas because every morning I would get back in bed because I felt so cruddy.....ahh the joys-NOT!

Passing the buck....

More like passing the bug.....it seems I have finally caught the sick bug that has been passed from one family member to the other.....and now to a non-family member--me!! I cannot breathe to save my life and am hoping to make a lunchtime run for some nasal spray.....how glamorous! I wish I could use my nose...... Update: No lunchtime run. A lunchtime date with my bed. I went home and have been asleep soundly in my bed surrounded by pillows....shy of two phone calls from the Moms it would have been solid, but I know she cares. Someone has too baby me :) Well, I just made a Walgreens run for some hardcore, ID required Sudafed {I call it druggyfed}. I popped two and snorted some Afrin and am feeling alright...I won't go with good but I do have a halfway decent air supply through my nose.....
